Studie zum Stand der Green Claims Directive

The Green Claims Directive (GCD) is an EU legislative measure that aims to prevent false or misleading advertising that could hinder ecological change (Ragonnaud, 2024). According to this, companies may only derive commercial benefits from the use of environmentally friendly claims if these have been verified and confirmed. The background to the GCD was a study by the European Commission which found that 53% of the environmental claims examined (green claims) were vague, misleading and did not provide sufficient information. 40% of the environmental claims were even completely unfounded (Ragonnaud, 2024).

A recent study by digitell.me shows that only a good 25 percent of the 31 environmental statements examined are compliant with the new legal requirements for sustainability communication. We are happy to make the study exclusively available to you.
